Maa’rijمعارج
A companion in striving for better.
The name

Faith is rarely a single moment. It is a striving.

Maa'rij معارج takes its meaning from rising in rank. The Qur'an speaks of the darajāt, the degrees by which Allah raises those who believe and act well.

يَرْفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ دَرَجَـٰتٍۢ"Allah will raise those who have believed among you, and those given knowledge, by degrees."Sūrah al-Mujādila · 58:11

We chose it because faith is rarely a single moment. It is a striving, day by day, to do a little better. Learning to pray when the words are still unfamiliar. Holding to the prayer when life is heavy. Giving what is owed. Seeking knowledge of how to act when a question arrives that you have never faced before.

Maa'rij is built to be a companion in that striving, to help you strengthen your worship and your deeds. The rising in rank is Allah's to grant. The app is only a companion on the way.

What Maa'rij is

One app, for the whole climb.

Maa'rij is a single app for daily worship and for the moments that define a life as a Muslim. The daily essentials are here: the Qur'an, prayer times, the direction of the Qibla. So are the things most apps leave out or scatter across a dozen niche tools.

What we believe about your data

Your faith is not our product.

Most Muslim apps make money from the people who use them, their location, their habits, their attention, sold to advertisers and data brokers. Some of the most popular ones have been caught doing exactly this.

We refuse to build that.

Maa'rij keeps the account we hold to the bare minimum, enough to sign you in and sync your bookmarks across your devices, nothing more. The sensitive things, what you calculate for your inheritance and your zakat, where you are when you pray, what you write down, stay on your device. They are never sent to us, because we never want to hold them.

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising trackers. We are not building a profile of your faith to monetise later. This is not a feature we are marketing, it is the reason the app is built the way it is. You can read exactly what we hold and what we don't on our privacy page.

Who builds it

The Muslim app we wished existed.

Maa'rij is built by a developer who has spent years making Islamic apps used by Muslims around the world, including work on Athan and prayer and Qur'an apps with hundreds of thousands of downloads between them.

This is not a venture-backed growth play. It is an attempt to build the Muslim app we wished existed: complete, beautiful, respectful of the person using it and honest about how it treats them.

A note on what's inside

An app can be a guide. It cannot be a mufti.

The inheritance and zakat calculators, the revert curriculum, and the life-event guides all touch on matters of religious ruling. We take that seriously. This content is reviewed against the work of qualified scholars, and where a question is genuinely complex or where scholars differ, the app says so and points you to seek a scholar rather than pretending to a certainty it does not have.

We have tried to be clear about the difference.
